The name of the album was inspired by the cover story of September 1956’s “Man’s Life” magazine, where a man was being attacked by a pack of angry little rodents.
Frank Zappa then showed the magazine to his friend Neon Park and asked him if he could make it any worse. The cartoonist mashed up the image with a 1953 newspaper ad for Schick Electric Shaver, and the result was so iconic and graphic, that several alternative covers had to be created for international markets.
